Chantal Crousel Gallery is pleased to present two new films by Allora & Calzadilla, co-produced with the Festival d’Automne à Paris.

Apotomē takes as a starting point, a historic attempt, set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, of man trying to communicate and create new relations with animals held in captivity- in this case two elephants, affectionately named Hans and Parkie (or Marguerite), that arrived at the Museum of Natural History in Paris in March 1798 as spoils of war.

Atelier Morales – Curator’s Voice Art Projects, Miami

Pilgrims is the title of the most recent photographic series conceived by the creative duo Atelier Morales, and it is also the title of the exhibition of this series that Curator’s Voice Art Projects is presenting in Miami. This collective of Cuban origin and based in Paris, composed by Teresa Ayuso and Juan Luis Morales, assumes the photographic act as an inquiry into history and the collective memory.

Muere en París el pintor cubano Jorge Camacho

Ayer falleció en París, donde residía parcialmente (buena parte del año la pasaba en la localidad onubense de Almonte), el pintor cubano Jorge Camacho, uno de los últimos surrealistas. El artista, nacido en La Habana en 1934, fue discípulo de Andre Breton, a quien conoció a finales de los años cincuenta. Perteneciente a la denominada Tercera Generación de artistas de Cuba, en él influyeron pintores como Tamayo, Miró, Francis Bacon y Wilfredo Lam, que sería determinante en su formación y futuro artístico.
