The SCAD exhibitions department presents a site-specific sculpture by acclaimed artist Teresita Fernández. A continuation of her “Eruption” series and inspired in part by the surroundings of Provence, this work engages the viewer in an active exploration of surface and space. Nuances reveal themselves in her alluring use of materials-in this case a vast plane covered in glass beads that shimmer and reflect the painted surface just beneath. In a subtle yet evocative experience, gallery visitors become immersed in a field of color, form and texture suggestive of topography and natural phenomena.
