“Martínez-Cañas created the work in Absence Revealed by collaging found objects from her personal archives, using materials her mother had taken from Cuba during her exile in 1960. The works highlight physical and emotional excavation: the act of revealing and uncovering, reflecting on absence, loss and memory.”
