Armando Mariño in group show: GIANTS AMONG US, at CHG CIRCA, Culver City, CA. CHG CIRCA presents a group show examining the role of the Giant in contemporary times. Modern day Giants prove to be more psychologi- cal than tangible in most cases, except perhaps when disguised as championship basketball centers or infamous wrestlers. Yet, since the very beginning of story-telling, giants have recurred as personalities to fear and respect, making mere humans feel small in their shadow, or humongous when the monster is overcome in battle. You’ll see today’s Giant depicted as fantasy, as emotion, even as edible.
